As a Line Cook, you'll play a vital role in our kitchen. You'll be responsible for preparing and cooking specific menu items according to established recipes, ensuring consistent quality and presentation.
Your responsibilities extend beyond simply following instructions. We encourage creativity and collaboration! You'll have the opportunity to contribute to the innovation of our menu by brainstorming new techniques and recipe ideas with the Chef. This role is also about ensuring a smooth flow of operations between the kitchen and dining area. You'll work closely with the wait staff to anticipate orders and prepare food efficiently to meet our service time standards.
Beyond cooking, you'll be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized workspace. This includes prepping your station, keeping it stocked with necessary ingredients and equipment, and ensuring proper sanitation throughout your shift.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Food Preparation and Service:
- Ensure all food orders are prepared accurately, meeting quality, presentation, and safety standards.
- Deliver orders promptly and consistently within established timeframes.
Mise en Place and Stocking:
- Maintain a well-stocked station with all necessary ingredients and equipment before service starts (mise en place).
- Monitor inventory levels and report on items requiring reordering.
- Ensure proper storage procedures are followed for all stocked items.
Menu Adaptability and Customer Satisfaction:
- Adapt dishes to accommodate customer allergies and preferences whenever possible.
- Respond effectively to customer complaints regarding food orders.
Hygiene and Sanitation:
- Uphold the highest standards of personal and workplace hygiene.
- Perform regular cleaning activities throughout the shift to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Prepare the kitchen workspace before the Head Chef arrives.
- Clean all used kitchen equipment at the end of the shift.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area during shift handover.
Teamwork and Communication:
- Collaborate effectively with the kitchen team to ensure timely completion of food orders.
- Report to the Head Chef and follow instructions.
- Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef when needed.
- Train new team members on kitchen procedures and work culture.
Health and Safety
- Proactively support the company's health and safety program.
- Ensure all team members understand their health and safety responsibilities as outlined in the company's Health and Safety Policy, and monitor compliance with its procedures.
- Be aware of and comply with safe working practices as laid down in the Health and Safety Policy applicable to your workplace. This includes awareness of any specific hazards.
- Report any building, plant, or equipment defects according to hostel procedures.
- Ensure immediate reporting of any accidents involving team members, customers, or visitors according to established procedures. Promote awareness of these procedures across the division.
- Attend mandatory fire and relevant health and safety training.
- Be fully conversant with and abide by all fire and health and safety rules. Ensure effective management of these aspects across the operation.
- Maintain thorough familiarity with all risk assessments for your departments, COSHH regulations, and fire/bomb procedures.
- Ensure your team stays up-to-date and proactively manages their responsibilities in these areas.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with various cooking techniques and equipment
- Proficiency in knife skills (cutting, chopping, mixing)
- Ability to prepare sauces and dressings according to recipes
- Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation and hygiene protocols.
- Ability to receive and follow instructions clearly
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to a fast-paced environment
- Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to help colleagues
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
